‘There are so many books about the experiences of game rangers and other professionals, but nobody has ever really considered that ordinary visitors have amazing and enviable tales too,’ says Jeff Gordon, the man behind the idea. Whether it’s spotting the Big 5 within your first hour of being in the park, sidestepping a black mamba as you enter a bird-hide, confronting a hyena in the ablution blocks or witnessing a fool getting out of his car to snap some shots of a lion feeding on the roadside, this is your chance to tell your story.
The idea is to compile 101 anecdotes or experiences into a book. This project is more a labour of love than a commercial venture for Jeff, who is passionate about the bush. Whether your story is short or long, funny or serious, tragic or light-hearted, he wants to hear it and share it with other Kruger lovers just like you. (Note to the timid: don’t worry if you think you can’t express yourself with elegance; without ruining your individual ‘voice’, contributions will be edited if necessary to correct any niggly little errors of spelling, grammar or punctuation.) As Nike would say, just do it!
