The global march against canned lion hunting took place in some 60 cities across the world on 15 March 2014. The aim was to raise awareness and educate people about the horrors of canned lions – not just the way they die but they way they are forced to live before they are killed.
Mercer speaks of the cruelty of the 'factory farming' of some 8000 lions in captivity in South Africa (nearly three times the number of wild lions left in the country), the dreadful cramped conditions in which they are raised, and the fact that the animal doesn't have a sporting chance against the trophy hunter. You'll also learn why cub petting is something you should definitely avoid, and about the lion bone market in Asia.
Watch the video and make yourself aware of an iniquitous industry that violates the rights of our African animals to live and die with dignity.
