The new Sho't Left local tourism campaign – now showing on a TV near you – hopes to encourage you to leave the high-rises or suburbs and take a short break, to be a tourist in your own country. This one focuses on getaways from Jozi and Gauteng.
Don't know what 'Sho't Left' means?
It comes from everyday South African taxi lingo: if you want a ride to somewhere close by, you ask the driver to 'Sho't Left' and he or she knows you want to get out again just around the corner.
In terms of the tourism campaign, it means you don't have to take a long trip somewhere far away; a night or two not far from home can be just as much fun. And there's ‘no such thing as a wrong turn’.
