The N2 between Cape Town and the Garden Route is the unlikely venue for a great new place to stop for breakfast, lunch, or treats to take away as padkos. Even the architecture of Tredici in Swellendam give you a taste of Europe.
Boy, was I glad we did. The place is a foodie’s delight, encompassing a small shop selling biscotti and chocolate treats and fun little bits of kitchen kit, as well as a deli, patisserie, bakery and restaurant overflowing with yummy treats, both savoury and sweet.
Tredici claims to be all about ‘sumptuous simplicity’, artisan baking and handmade delicacies using fresh local produce. It boasts that it offers ‘the best European cuisine personalised with African flair’.
What a treat when, like me, you might have been expecting Wimpy same-old same-old.
